If anyone were to research the lab on fire, really and truly and deeply research it. They'd discover so many problems. So many dangerous connections to shady government facilities that were somehow both anti-conduit and prone to experimenting with creating more, even if it did cost lives. There'd be record of just one success. Just one, and that successful attempt was standing a few yards from Nix, watching this building burn rapidly.

"I'm not worried about the Feds," Charlie says with the tone of someone who knows there are bigger monsters out there and the Feds, comparatively, are just angry teething puppies who trip over their own big paws. To the girl in question, there are. She's been dealing with them for months, now, starting with the ones in Longmont, West Virginia and making her way down the coast.

Not with any intent to hurt anyone. It's just what happens when people don't leave well enough alone. And then she gets tired of being chased and shot at and listening to empty promises of "we're not gonna hurt you, Charlie, we just want to talk." But it was always lies, so when this woman says she wants to talk?

There's a moment when the pharmaceutical lab burns just a little brighter, a brilliant red fire shot with blue and white for just a second as Charlie looks at the woman over her shoulder.

She is very suspicious, that much is so very clear.

"Talk about what?" The cautious approach from the other conduit is helping some, but not enough for Charlie to start talking just yet.
